Battery Manufacturer Successfully Resolves Several Lawsuits

Represented a large battery manufacturer and the chairman of its ultimate parent company in several related lawsuits against the company’s former CFO. The company alleged that the former CFO had stolen more than $7 million from the company.

The former CFO, who previously owned part of the company and still owns a building that the company was leasing, alleged that the chairman had acquired her ownership interest by fraud and that the company had breached its lease agreement. The various allegations comprised five separate actions – three consolidated cases in Orange County Superior Court, one case in federal district court, and one case in the California Court of Appeal. After substantial discovery into the CFO’s activities and several rulings in our clients’ favor, the dispute was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
