Travis Brennan, Chair of Stradling’s Privacy & Data Security practice, co-authored an article for the Corporate Counsel Business Journal regarding the impact of recently enacted privacy regulations in the United Stated and abroad. The article, “California Sets National Data Security Standard,” detailed the key factors that corporations need to focus on to maintain compliance now that the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) will become effective in January 2020. Although the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the CCPA are both designed to protect consumer privacy, Brennan explains what similarities and differences companies should be aware of as they prepare for compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act.
