Handbook Changes Needed for 2024

Client Alert

December 2023

By: Jeffrey A. Dinkin, Jared W. Speier

California enacted several bills that require changes to Employee Handbooks before the end of the year. The areas which may require revision include:

  • Paid Sick Leave (or PTO policies)
  • Reproductive Loss Leave
  • Any Non-Competition Policies
  • Workplace Violence Prevention Policy
  • Changes related to increase in minimum wage and salary threshold for exempt employees
  • Dealing the NLRB’s Stericycle decision (reviewing provisions that may have a reasonable tendency to dissuade workers from engaging in concerted activity)

We can assist you in updating your Employee Handbook to incorporate the relevant changes, or if the Handbook has not been updated for a while, assist in reviewing and updating the entire Handbook.

With the end of the year approaching, we encourage companies to get started on revising their Handbooks now.
