Stradling Launches Trust & Estate Practice with New Partner in Westlake Village Office
July 2024
July 16, 2024 – Stradling announced today the launch of its Trust & Estate practice with the addition of Daniel C. Lorenzen. Based in the firm’s Westlake Village office, Daniel will spearhead the growth of the practice group across the firm. He comes from Venable LLP in Los Angeles and has a substantial practice that provides wealth planning and tax counsel to individuals, families, and closely held businesses in the United States and abroad.
“Our clients have been asking for referrals to someone with Daniel’s experience and instead of referring it to another firm, we thought we would bring his capabilities in-house,” says Ryan Wilkins, chair of the Corporate and Securities practice. “For clients who are selling their businesses or starting new ones, it’s critical they have a solid estate and tax plan in place to secure their business and personal finances.”
Daniel has significant experience advising clients who are the core of Stradling’s business including general partners of private equity, venture capital and other funds. He also represents business founders and frequently advises on valuation and qualified small business stock opportunities. Brent Reinke, managing partner of the Westlake Village office, commented that “we are really excited to have Daniel joining Stradling and our Westlake Village office. I have known him for a number of years and think very highly of him both personally and professionally. He is a great addition to our expanding presence in this region.”
Fluent in Japanese, Daniel is known in Southern California for his experience representing Japanese companies on their U.S. transactions, including mergers and acquisitions. He also helps his cross-border contacts on tax and estate planning matters such as the application of Japanese inheritance taxes to U.S. assets, qualifying for foreign estate treatment, and implementing cross-border estate plans.
Daniel is a member of the Japan America Society of Southern California and a member of the Trust and Estate Section Executive Committee of the California Lawyers Association.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and his B.S. from BYU.
